Growth strategy and scaling execution

About Andrew

After spending more than 30 years building and leading product, marketing, and operational teams, I’ve learned that real growth comes from alignment. The companies that scale successfully connect product, marketing, operations, and leadership into a single growth and experimentation engine. Today I work with founders, executives, and investors to help companies identify and overcome their growth constraints and build organizations that drive scale.

The method ❊

Scaling a company is a lot like tuning an engine or extracting performance from a car or airplane. Growth doesn’t come from one change; it comes from aligning a system. My work focuses on identifying the critical constraints to growth and building the teams, systems, and strategies that allow companies to scale.

Find the performance bottleneck
Every company has a bottleneck or value leak. Sometimes it’s product-market fit, sometimes it’s marketing efficiency, organizational structure, or execution. I work with leadership teams to identify the real constraints and focus resources where they will drive the greatest impact.

01

Tune the growth engine
Growth rarely comes from one function alone. The most successful companies align product development, marketing, customer experience, and operations into a unified growth engine.

02

Build systems that scale
Sustainable growth requires strong leadership and a clear organizational structure. I help companies build the teams, processes, and metrics needed to scale effectively and maintain momentum.

“Andrew was an exceptional Board member and a truly valuable partner to me as CEO. Having been an operator himself, he brings a rare ability to understand the pressure of being in the hot seat and to help a CEO stay calm, clear-headed, and effective through the inevitable turbulence of building and leading a business. He combines sound judgment with practical experience, and I found his counsel especially valuable on investor relations, key people decisions, market choices, investment questions, and exit-related thinking. Andrew has a way of making difficult situations feel more manageable, and his presence made me a better, more confident leader. I found him to be an invaluable collaborator and a genuine CEO partner.”

“Andrew skillfully applies his wealth of experience across multiple business disciplines to the benefit of the companies he works with. His impact extends beyond the boards he serves on to the leaders and managers who work in those companies. He is thoughtful and compassionate, while balancing those attributes with strategic insight and clarity. Andrew is a modern, innovative thinker with practical ideas and instincts about what it takes for businesses to succeed in the digital world. Further, he has a great attitude and perspective on life and work, which makes him fun to be around and to work with.”

“Andrew is the real deal.

We all know the board members who sit through quarterly meetings with nothing worthwhile to contribute.  Andrew is just the opposite.

He has the rare combination of 1) insights that come from hard-earned operating experience grounded in what it takes to actually execute, 2) reps on the other side - capital raises across VC/growth/PE as well as exits ranging from great to painful, and last but not least 3) character — he acts with integrity and dares to address it when others don’t; he’ll give you honest feedback when you need it; he also knows how to give a shot of encouragement when that’s what you need the most.

I'm beyond grateful for having worked with Andrew over the last 5-plus years and all I’ve learned from him.  He’s made me, our team, our product, our board, all better. And he's just a great person as well.”

Eleanor Cooper

CEO at Pathstream

“Andrew is an exceptional business strategist who brings sharp, data-driven thinking and deep commercial acumen. With diverse experience across a wide range of industries, he’s equally comfortable going deep in the weeds and stepping back to see the big picture, all while being a thoughtful listener. He consistently cuts through complexity to deliver clear, actionable strategies that drive real business impact. ”

“ Andrew Wait is one of the best leaders I've had the privilege of working for — his energy, passion, and curiosity are genuinely contagious. I reported directly to Andrew as we scaled lynda.com through hyper-growth and into a successful exit, and his leadership was central to everything we accomplished. One principle he modeled that I still pass on to leaders today: be fast — because if the leader is slow, the whole organization is slow. Andrew's responsiveness set the cultural pace for our entire team, and it was one of the most powerful and simple leadership unlocks I've ever witnessed. Beyond his professional impact, Andrew is the kind of person who opens his home to his team and stays genuinely invested in the people around him long after the work is done. I hope to work with him again someday, and any team lucky enough to have him will be better for it.”
